The effect which makes this page work depends on your browser supporting alpha-transparency in PNG files (as well as having javascript enabled). Older browsers, and versions of Internet Explorer before version 7, do not provide this support. Current versions of Opera, Netscape, Firefox, Firebird, Mozilla, etc., do support it.
Where the colouring of the maps is inconsistent with what is described in the text in the panels, it is probably because in creating the coloured overlays I have followed the original coloured plates where these differ from the text. However it may just be my mistake.
